Last year and to date, there has been an increase in the number of design firms marketing and providing design services on projects outside of the United States. At our April 15th roundtable, we discussed risks and liabilities associated with providing design services outside the United States, how to manage these risks and liabilities, including standard form of agreements available for overseas work.

Sue Yoakum, Esq., AIA led this discussion focusing on four areas design professionals should consider when trying to understand risks and liabilities associated with providing design services outside the United States. The four areas include; 1) client and local environment, 2) project type and delivery methods, 3) contracts, including international model forms available to design professionals and 4) insurance.
